October Happenings !

On First Day, Tenth Month 4th, we celibrate World Quaker Day" ! The theme for this year is ""Let Peace Be Among Us".

The Quaker peace testimony is "an active, enduring commitment by members of the Religious Society of Friends to renounce physical violence, oppose participation in war, and address the root causes of conflict".

Taking the pledge to be an apartheid free community, is something that fits into the peace testimony. Have a look at the following poster, and maybe follow the link for more information.

This would be a great day for anyone interested in learning about Quakerism to visit us at the Quaker Meeting House in Sparta. This is also the day we will have our monthly potluck lunch!

Also have a look at the "Events Calendar" page to see what is also happening in October. There is the "Kairos Blanket Exercise" on October 24 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Sparta Meeting House, as well as the Pelham Half Yearly Meeting in Kitchener or by Zoom meeting October 24 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. See details in the "Events Calendar" for both.

September News!

The last few weeks, the House and Grounds committee has been hard at work building a new WOODSHED!

If you have not had the opportunity yet, have a walk behind the meeting house and have a look. It looks GREAT!

Ken Laing also built up the ground around that corner of the meeting house, to improve drainage, and to make it easier to wheel the wood around to the meeting house woodstove.

Keep your ears open for when we will be have a work bee to fill the shed with the wood piled at the back of the meeting house. Many hands make light work.

This sunday we will also be having our monthly potluck lunch. Hope to see everyone there!

Coldstream Meeting

I am attaching a bulletin from Coldstream meeting, that explains all of the things happenning there as well. Have a look.
